Jubilee Window

The Jubilee Window was donated
to Santa Rosa by Cannon Jeremiah Maher (Parish Priest 1937-1960) on the
Silver Jubilee of his priestly ordination in 1945 as a memorial to the
lives of all the priests who served or will ever serve in Arima.
It was made in the world famous Harry Clarke Studio in Dublin, Ireland
and was installed in the nave of the church at the beginning of
1949. On the 4th Sunday of Lent, the 27th of March, 1949, this
beautiful stained glass window was unveiled by Count Finbar Ryan, the
Archbishop of Port-of-Spain.
The full glory of a stained-glass window is only revealed when Nature's light pours through the design of the artist. So it is with our window which is seen at its best early in the morning when the rays of the rising Sun illuminate it. The Jubilee Window is made up of two panels bounded by a traditional geometric border. The underlying theme of the panels is our salvation through the Passion and Death of Our Lord. |
The Upper Panel: The upper panel depicts the Crucifixion as described in the Gospel of John (Jn. 19:25-27). It is witnessed by Mary, the Mother of God, who stands on the left of her Crucified Son, along with John, the Beloved Disciple on the right and Mary Magdalene who kneels at the foot of the cross. The Trinity is clearly depicted in the upper part of this panel with the outstretched arms of God the Father and the Holy Spirit portrayed as a dove hovering above the Crucified Son. On each side of this panel are three cherubs who weep at the Passion and Death of the Lord The Lower Panel: |
