
About the Parish
Established 20th April 1786 as the Indian Mission of Santa Rosa de Arima on the foundations of a Capuchin Mission previously established in 1749.
Santa Rosa is the second oldest parish in the Diocese of Port of Spain
The Parish of Santa Rosa has pastoral responsibility for the main community of Santa Rosa as well as for five smaller satellite communities. The following are the names of the communities and the Lay Ministers who work with the priest for the care of these communities:

Msgr. Christian D. Pereira is usually available on:
Tuesdays and Thursday 3:00pm – 5:30pm
Fridays and Saturdays 9:00am – 11.30am
Sacristans:
Mr. Felix Monsegue & Mr. Jean Claude Jennings are responsible for the opening
and closing of the Church, the preparations for the various liturgies
and ceremonies and the general coordination of activities in the church.

The Parish Service Representatives are available
Mondays and Saturdays from 9:00am – 12 noon
Tuesdays to Fridays from 9.00am – 5.30pm
Either person will be able to make arrangements for Masses, Initial Baptism
Arrangements and complete Funeral Arrangements.
They can do searches for and issue certificates of Baptism, and Church Marriages.
They are usually helpful in initiating appointments with one of the priests

The Sacrament of Baptism
The sacrament is celebrated with infants and young children on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. Parents and Godparents are required to be members of the Roman Catholic Church (see article on Godparents). Parents who request the parish to Baptize their children must be attending church regularly. They are also asked to attend a meeting on the Tuesday before the Baptism Ceremony in the Parish hall at 7.00pm.
